Increases in National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW)
From April 2022
If you’re keen to keep abreast of the proposed employment law changes in April 2022, here’s a start, with the latest on proposed increases in the National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW):
The National Living Wage will rise from £8.91 per hour to £9.50 in April 2022, all those aged 23 years and over.
For the following age groups, the National Minimum Wage will also increase in April 2022:
- Aged 21 to 22 – from £8.36 to £9.18 per hour
- Aged 18 to 20 – from £6.56 to £6.83 per hour
- Aged under 18 – from £4.62 to £4.81 per hour
- Apprentices – from £4.30 to £4.81 per hour
It’s a good idea for employers to check their pay rates against the forthcoming minimum wage rates, to ensure that where necessary, remuneration is increased for the first pay reference period beginning on or after 1 April 2022.
