…and other HR TIPS to help employers avoid issues during the Christmas Season
-
Communicate any compulsory closing dates to employees early in the year – as this can affect annual leave entitlements
-
Review annual leave entitlements for the year and ensure employees have taken their full leave entitlement or, whether they are allowed (in line with company policy) to carry it forward
-
Ensure days of leave for part timers are pro-rated, so they are not disadvantaged
-
Remind employees of the rules around gifts received, to ensure they are within the guidelines set out in your Gifts and Hospitality and/or Anti Bribery Policies and so they do not put the organisation at risk of claims of being improperly influenced when making decisions
-
Advise on any dress-down days – but make it optional and be sensitive to employees who do not celebrate Christmas
-
Beware the Office Party – Ensure your workforce are aware of the acceptable standards of professional behaviour during Social Events at work – a well communicated Social Events at Work Policy will help to set the standard
